Gluten Free Sausage Balls

Gluten Free Sausage Balls pinit

“I’m just here for the appetizers (I didn’t really want to come).”

What better place to find a gluten free recipe than in a magazine in a doctor’s waiting room. When I stumbled across this recipe, it was the photograph of the GF sausage balls that caught my attention and I thought, “those look identical to the one’s I cook!” I took a photo of the recipe with my phone and that evening I made the GF recipe and couldn’t be more pleased with the results. In addition to one major product substitution, for my recipe, I added two additional ingredients .. garlic powder, Cajun seasoning and smoked paprika.

We have a good friend who must manage her symptoms of celiac disease and she can testify that these sausage balls are indeed gluten free having enjoyed them on several occasions recently. Please, give them a try whether you have to eat gluten free foods or not.

  1. Assemble the necessary ingredients and a large bowl. Preheat oven to 375°F. Let the cream cheese and sausage sit out for an hour to come to room temperature. This makes it easier to mix them.

  2. Put all the ingredients in the large bowl and, using your fingers, mix until well combined. Using your fingers and/or a cookie scoop, roll the mixture into 1 1/2 inch balls. Place the balls on a baking pan lined with parchment paper.

  3. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Remove the balls, using tongs, and allow them to drain on several layers of paper towels. Serve while warm.
