“The only real stumbling block is fear of failure. In cooking you’ve got to have a what-the-hell attitude.” Julia Child
“For too long now TV chefs have tried to ‘impress’ with their food & style. But a ton of ingredients and a ton of steps just winds up with people saying they can’t cook. And it’s not that they can’t cook – it’s that they don’t because they think it’s too hard. So isn’t it time someone made cooking easy?” Sam Zien
Welcome to TaylorTastes.com. If you are looking for a professional food/cooking/recipe blog well, you’ve come to the wrong place! No mass advertising and/or marketing, no online shop, not even a cookbook for sale! The purpose of this website is to share recipes, rambling thoughts and the occasional rant with family and friends but anyone is welcome to visit and (hopefully) enjoy the contents.
I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, a gourmet cook. Karen & I do enjoy good food, entertaining friends, and having a good time in the kitchen. We are both retired now and are empty nesters and I enjoy experimenting with recipes (often to Karen’s dismay) and posting on this blog. The purpose of this website is to support those pastimes while sharing recipes and information with others.
Some notes about sharing … You may use, alter, re-name, etc., any of the recipes from this website but we would ask that you consider including the comment, “provided courtesy of TaylorTastes.com” or maybe “inspired by TaylorTastes.com.” The few recipes that are labeled “copyright or All Content ©” must be be properly cited if you print them and I’d prefer you obtain permission first. Many (if not most) of the recipes are not originally ours and we’ve tried to identify these accordingly and give credit where credit is due. Since they are not ours, we cannot give you permission to do anything other than enjoy them for personal use which we assume is okay since we found them to be freely downloadable elsewhere on the Internet. We have not knowingly or intentionally published or made available any copyrighted or proprietary material; please notify us if you find otherwise.
A little history …. I began TaylorTastes.com in 2008 and was immediately deluged with spammer comments attempting to publish links to their worthless sites. At first I found myself spending about an hour or less a week deleting the spam comments … by 2010 I was spending almost an hour a day to eliminate the ever increasing spam garbage. Finally, sometime in 2010 I threw in the towel and disabled the ability to comment on the site’s postings. Although comment-less, things floated along fairly smoothly until August 2012 when the site was hacked and ridiculously defaced not once, but three times. I can only assume that someone (who obviously had no taste) didn’t like my cooking which drove them to hack the site!
The website is now (Spring 2020) undergoing it’s third complete redesign using an up-to-date WordPress cooking site template. I am taking the opportunity during the site overhaul to delete many recipes and upload many new ones. This will give me the chance to provide family, friends, and other site visitors with fresh, revised content which hopefully everyone will enjoy.
