“There is always time for corn on the cob.”

Corn on the Cob (Microwaved)

As long as I can remember, I have loved corn on the cob ... but, that memory probably didn't begin until I had a good set of teeth!  I cannot begin to tell you how many ways I've cooked corn on the cob.  There was grilling, roasted, steamed, boiled, foil wrapped, and the list goes on.  Probably the most unusual was when I was about 12 years old on a Boy Scout "cave man" cook-out;  we packed the whole husk of corn in muddy clay and placed it in the coals of the fire ... it actually came out being delicious but no one had remembered to bring butter!

Instructions

  1. Place the one ear of fresh corn, still in the husk, into the microwave.  For a single ear of corn microwave for 4 minutes at full power.  Use a towel or oven mitt(s) to handle the ear of corn when removing it from the microwave ... it will be extremely hot!

  2. Slice off the bottom inch from the cob and discard.

  3. Using a towel or oven mitt(s), squeeze the top of the ear of corn forcing the bottom to ease or slide out of the husk leaving most, if not all, of the silk in the husk.

  4. If necessary, trim off the top half inch of the cob.  Serve with melted butter and enjoy.
